what is zone a n zone b?why the spacing of ring in zone a less.n zone b high?..

Answer / Surya Kant Srivastav

Zone A and Zone B are terms used in the Ring Main Units (RMU) system of an underground electrical distribution network.nn- Zone A, also known as the inner zone, is located closer to the primary source. Its ring main unit has a smaller loop impedance, making it more efficient in handling larger loads and providing faster fault clearing.n- Zone B, also known as the outer zone, is further away from the primary source. It has a larger loop impedance, making it less efficient but still able to handle smaller loads.nnThe spacing of rings (or circuits) in Zone A is less than that in Zone B because:n- Smaller ring spacing ensures faster fault clearing and better power quality in the inner zone due to its closer proximity to the primary source.n- Larger ring spacing helps reduce the number of cables required for the outer zone, making it more cost-effective.
