How to calculate KVA/VA rating of PT or CT from primary & secondary voltage or primary & secondary current?
Answer / Girish Chandra Sharma
To calculate the KVA (Kilovolt-Ampere) or VA (Volt-Ampere) rating of a Potential Transformer (PT) or Current Transformer (CT), you need to know the ratio of primary to secondary voltages for PT and primary to secondary currents for CT. The formulas are as follows:nFor PT: KVA = Primary voltage * Secondary voltage / Primary voltage^2nFor CT: VA = Primary current * Secondary current / (Primary current - 1)^2
