on the basis of load curve it is calculated.if suppose you have to find the max demand(md)of ur house plot time on x axis units consumed on y axis.you get supppose 2units 6am 30 7am 42 8am 5 9am.....till midnight.then ur max demand is 42units.all other factors such as load factor,diversity factor can be found.

limit that in sanction load by the state electrical board
for a example our transformer is 500 kva and according
to power factor we calculate in standard 500*0.9=450kw .we
authorized only 450 kw only.govt authorized me only 450 kw
we cross the limit we pay the penalty
