1.what is the difference between transformer differential
and busbar differential.2)why we are using 2 slope for
trafo diif and 1 slope for busbar diff.3)what is the
purpose of metrosil and stabilizing resistor in high
impedance relay circuit.4)how metrosil reduce the peak
volage.5)what is the funtion of stabilizing resistor

1.what is the difference between transformer differential and busbar differential.2)why we are usi..

Answer / Sunil Yadav

1. Transformer differential protection monitors the current in a single transformer winding to protect against faults, while busbar differential protection monitors the difference in current between two busbars to detect faults on power transmission lines or transformers.
2. The use of two slopes for transformer differential and one slope for busbar differential is related to the shape of the current-time curve during a fault. Two slopes are used for transformer differential because it can more accurately distinguish between ground and phase faults.
3. Metrosil (Metaloxide varistor) is a voltage-dependent resistor that limits transient voltages by conducting current during overvoltage conditions, thereby reducing peak voltage.
4. Stabilizing resistors are used in high impedance relay circuits to provide a constant DC voltage source despite changes in the AC supply voltage. This ensures reliable operation of the relay.
5. Metrosil reduces the peak voltage by allowing current to flow through it during overvoltage conditions, thereby reducing the voltage across sensitive components.

What is principal to reduce earth leakage current with isolation transformer? When isolation transformer is installed in input stage of system, earth leakage current is reduced. the reason is why the leakage current of 2nd stage of isolation transformer does not affect the 1st stage's leakage current. I would like to know the reason. As you know, earth leakage current is a kind of AC. So, How to reduce earth leakage current in case that isolation transformer is used?
