transformers?

in Y the vL=1.73*vp
in delta vl=vp and current IL=1.73*ip
also for distribution required 230 n 433v so neutral is
required so we used y - delta conec.

Actually we use Delta-Star connection for step down to get
neutral in the secondary. The question is wrong , should
read why we use delta-Start connection , not opposite.

1:--- actually we used delta -star connection in power
distribution transformer to provide the returning path of
current, because connected load does not balanced so
returning current goes to transformer star point through
neutral wire which always earthed.
2;---In distribution load is being different type like
single phase three phase etc so we have required neutral for
single
phase load which is only possible in star connection.

actually delta star trnasformer used in step down
trnasformer to avoid earthfault give effect of over

Answer / arindam
Delta is mainly used on low voltage side because its line voltage=phase voltage. if it is used on high voltage side due to high voltage in phase more insulation is required. But if it is star then its phase voltage = (1/√3)phase voltage. so if high voltage applied to line of star its phase value decrease by √3 times and comparetively less insulation is required. Hence star-delta is used for step down and delta-star is used for step up.

question is wrong,
normally we use delta-star connection for step down
transformer to prevent earth faults.

Because starting voltage of the star connection is less
compare 2 other connections..........
