why battery is connected in parallel ?

It depends on the voltage and current requirement.
For example if you have 4 dry cells and if you need a higher
voltage requirement connect it in series.
If you want higher current rating connect in parallel.
series connection increases voltage capability of battery
parallel connection increases current capability of battery

If batteries are connected in series, its capacitance
decrease, addition of each battery and in parallel its a
viceversa
1) If we connect 2 capacitor in series its (1/c1 + 1/c2)
2) and if we connect in parallel its c1+c2=2c

In a parallel circuit, a charge does not pass through every
resistor; rather, it passes through a single resistor.
Thus, the entire voltage drop across that resistor must
match the battery voltage. It matters not whether the
charge passes through resistor 1, resistor 2, or resistor
3, the voltage drop across the resistor that it chooses to
pass through must equal the voltage of the battery.
Vbattery = V1 = V2 = V3 = ...
If three resistors are placed in parallel branches and
powered by a 12-volt battery, then the voltage drop across
each one of the three resistors is 12 volts. A charge
flowing through the circuit would only encounter one of
these three resistors and thus encounter a single voltage
drop of 12 volts.

Battery connected in series:
If batteries are connected in series then the output
voltage is increased.
Battery connected in parallel:
If the batteries are connected in parallel than the
output current is increased
Note:
The batteries are connected in parallel or series it
only deponds upon needs of output increased current/
increased voltage.

It depends on your requirements
1> if we need high voltage the battries should be connected
in series.
2>if we need high current the should be connected in
parallely.so totaly depends on voltage and current.
