While it's possible to produce a rotating magnetic field in a transformer using a three-phase winding, introducing the principle of a single-phase induction motor (which operates on a rotating magnetic field generated by two out-of-phase currents) directly into a transformer is not practical or efficient. This is because transformers are designed to transfer power between circuits with minimum loss, while induction motors convert electrical energy into mechanical energy for propulsion purposes.
