No, it is not necessary.
In SHIMADU make FTIR (Model: 8400S) with DRS, the KBr disc
need not to prepare.
The IR spectrum is directly run from mixture of the
substance to be examined with finely powdered and dried KBr
or KCl. Mixture containing approximately 5% of the
substance is used, unless otherwise specified. Grind the
mixture, place it in a sample cup and examine the
reflectance spectrum.
This method is mentioned in British Pharmacopoeia.

Hello Dear all; I have a technical question related to analytical Chemistry, I have a sample of (40% w/w) Ferric Chloride solution (for water treatment purposes which consist a little portions of Ferrous Chloride and Hydrochloric acid.
