microcontroller has onchip memory(RAM,ROM) which is not
expandable...whereas microprocessor has to be interfaced
with external memory (RAM,ROM) which is expandable...and
that is the major reason of using microprocessor in PC in
spite of having huge instruction set.

MICRO CONTROLLER AND MICROPROCESSOR BOTH ARE SEMICONDUCTOR
DEVICE .
MICROPROCESSOR HAS A RAM ,ROM CONNECTED TO THE EXTERNALLY .
BUT IN MICRO CONTROLLER IT HAS A ON CHIP RAM,ROM ,TIMER
,COUNTER ,A TO D CONVERTER AND D TO A CONVERTER ,IT HAS
SERIAL AND PARALLEL PORT COMMUNICATION PORT IT HAS A LARGER
MEMORY SPACE COMPARED TO THE MICROPROCESSOR IT HAS A ON CHIP
CLOCK PULSE GENERATOR CIRCUIT AVAILABLE RATHER THAN THE
MICROPROCESSOR .MICRO CONTROLLER IS A SMALL COMPUTER AND
MICROPROCESSOR IS A PART OF SMALL COMPUTER . IN
MICROPROCESSOR INSTRUCTION IS PERFORMED BY BIT VICE AND IN
MICRO CONTROLLER IT IS PERFORMED BY BYTE VICE ............

Microprocessor is an IC which has only the CPU inside them
i.e. only the processing powers such as Intel’s Pentium
1,2,3,4, core 2 duo, i3, i5 etc. These microprocessors don’t
have RAM, ROM, and other peripheral on the
chip.Microcontroller has a CPU, in addition with a fixed
amount of RAM, ROM and other peripherals all embedded on a
single chip. At times it is also termed as a mini computer
or a computer on a single chip.

Micro processor means it contains only cpu and all other pheripherals connected externally.
But, In Micro Controller it contains all the pheripherals internally, it means all the pheripherals are in-bulit . so simply we can tell micro controller is sigle integrated circuit.
So the micro controller size is less compared to processor and micro controller is less flexiable comapred to processor beacuse all the pheripherals are in-buit.
