Why cant we connect the motor output to generator and then generator output to motor ?..

Answer / shivendra_sharma1980

Output power is always less than input power because during
conversion of energy some losses occurred (iron loss,
cooper loss)

Why cant we connect the motor output to generator and then generator output to motor ?..

Answer / atif

we can't do this practically b-coz Motor starting current
is more than running & generator initial voltages are not
enough to start the motor thats why they can not start
directly. In running condition there is fluctuation in
generator posible to stop motor if we start motor using a
second as primover. So it is difficult.

Why cant we connect the motor output to generator and then generator output to motor ?..

Answer / vijay balu raskar

Generation of electricity is done by using generator. Generator makes electricity as per number of rotations. Higher the number of rotations high will be generation. If we connect motor output the generator then speed of the generator is low as compare with motor and usually output of generator. Motor required high starting current / we can say torque. Hence, we can't.

Why cant we connect the motor output to generator and then generator output to motor ?..

Answer / amit sharma

Since the motor's output is just to get the Mechanical work
done from Electrical supply, so if connected the same to a
generator, than no need of the Engine of the DG.
Similarly, the DG output is to produce Voltage. The Voltage
produced by a DG is normally given to an AC motor (single
or 3 phase)which is a common practice...
