can we run 3 phase induction motor under 2 phase supply

Answer Posted / narendra patel

Yes we can operate 3 phase induction motor under 2 phase.
for the correct operation of 3 phase induction motor, we should have 3 phase with balance condition(i.e. 120 degree phase differance each other). if we have 2 phase with 120 degree phase differance then we can get another phase by connecting one capacitor with any of one phase.
but it is risky that if we run for more time then the motor winding may heated up. and may it burn. because we does not have axact 120 degree phase shift..
