MPCB:Motor Protection Circuit Breaker, which performs the
same function as that of an SFU.
MCB:Miniature Circuit Breaker, It also functions as a short
circuit prevention device. It can be 1,2,3,4 poles
depending on the requirement.

MPCB: all the bove full form are correct.
its also an breaker with inbuilt overload protection.
as per the cordination in the panel after contactor OLR is
needed to be provided.if we are using MPCB there is no need
for overload relay.
MCB: Minature circuit breaker.
this limit it is available up to certain breaking
capacity.can be used for lower breaking capacity

Hi friends, The every answer are correct but no body wrote
about the single phasing protection that is second portion
of Question clearly.
Answer-
MPCB will not protect to motor during single phasing
accuratly. It can do moulfunction during single phasing.
So normally MPCB dose do sufficient for single phasing.
Thanks

Basically MPCB is used to protect motors from malfunctionng
and from overload whereas MCB does not work on three phase,
provides insufficeint protectin by only tripping the
cirrcuit.
MPCB can be used on three phases R,Y,B and provides full
protection to the motor n avoid it from burning.

The question is still not clear to me......
as.
1). MCB protects from overloadin, short circuit..
2). MPCB protects from overloading, short circuit and motor disconection...in all of the above cases it will trip....nd moreover the main dfrnc btwn mcb nd mpcb is dat mpcb is provided with auxiliary cntacts(normally open nd normally closed)basically mpcb is connected with cntactors to provide two cmponent starting.......nd mpcb ranges r variable it can be set from frnt bt mcb is set for a fixed rating....

I BOUGHT A HAVELLS ACCL WITH GENERATOR STOP FASCILITY(i.e- BASICALLY IT IS A AUTO CHANGE OVER SWITCH) FOR MY HONDA EXK 2000S HOME GENERATOR (WHICH START IN PETROL & RUN IN KEROSENE). ACCL HAS 8 POINT. 2 FOR MAINS(PH & NUE), 2 FOR LOAD, 2 FOR GEN AND 2 FOR IGNITION POINT(X1 & X2). THE IGNITION POINT IS SPECIALLY FOR AUTO ENGINE STOP WHEN MAINS POWER RESTORE. I CONNECT THIS X1 & X2 POINT TO THE GENERATOR STATER MOTOR & EARTHING POINT. BUT WHEN MAINS FAILS THE GENERATOR COULD NOT START, BUT WHEN DISCONNECT THOSE X1 OR X2 POINT, THEN THE GENERATOR START. BUT WHEN MAINS ON THEN THE GENERATOR SHOULD START, AND WHEN I OFF THE MAINS THE GENERATOR AUTOMATICALLY STOP. PLESE HELP ME HOW I STOP THE GENERATOR AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE MAINS RESTORE.
The neutral to earth connection in my industry is showing a zero reading (shorted). I have a machine which has to be installed where neutral to earth is not shorted and shows a leak voltage <3 Volts. Please suggest me how it is possible.

dear all, in motor operation , motor is of 100 hp and bimetal relay setting is 130 amp, if relay is getting tripped on 120 amp balance current what can be the reason? Relay is newly replaced. I dont know but is there any frequency effect in thit case? Can frequency variation affect bimetal relay operation?
