Answer / manish meena
transformer works on mutual induction principle which
states that emf is induced in other coil if changing
magnetic flux is linked in nearby coil, therefore if dc is
used then there is no changing flux finally no emf.

Because Electromagnetic Induction effect will not take
place & transformer will not work.

AS TRANSFORMER IS STATIC DEVICE
TO INDUCE CURRENT IN ANY CONDUCTOR BASICALLY WE NEED MOVING
MAGANETIC FIELD OR THE CONDUCTORS SHOULD MOVE.....
IN AC CURRENT THE DIRECTION OF FLUX IS MOVING CONTINEOUSLY
SO THE CURRENT IS INDUCED IS THE WINDING (SECONDARY WINDING)
WHERE AS IN DC SUPPLY THE FREQUENCY IS ZERO AND THATS WHY
THERE IS NO LINKAGE OF VARIABLE FLUX IN SECONDARY SO NO
CURRENT INDUCED.THATS WHY WE USE ONLY AND ONLY AC SUPPLY IN
TRANSFORMERS

The transofer works on this formula
Vs = k f Ns Ac Bm
and Vs=Vp*(Ns/Np)
And there is f=fequency comes so in the case of DC f=0
Therefore, there is no electro megnetic action comes.

some one said dc does not have flux, dc has flux but it is
constant means the polarity remains same incase of ac the
flux always keeps on changing and produces emf in the same
conductor due to self induction and produces emf in the
other conductor which is placed closely to it due to mutual
induction. It is the principle of transformer

Answer / balram raturi
transformer work on mutual induction ,if dc is apply to it
there is no back emf induced in secondary to limit
primary current .so transformer will burn

Answer / rakesh punia
in dc source there is zero frequency
whereas in ac source thefrequencuy is not zero.now what is
magnetic flux ?.basically magnetic flux is no of magnetic
lines of force passing through an small area.
when this magnetic lines change or fux changes emf or
current is produced.this is being proved by faraday.in ac
this phenomenon takes place due to variable frequency while
in dc frequeency is zero thus no emmf is produced thus no
mutual induction which prime principle of any transformer,

Because transformer works on the principle of mutual
induction which is not possible in DC power..

Answer / praful nandankar
we know dc will produce steady magnetic field and to induce
emf in transformer we need changing flux which is not
possible with dc current.Hence there will be no transformer
action.
