In step down transformer (415/200V),mistakenly secondary side is connected to 415V for some hours,..

Answer / pillay

your transformer had become a step up transformer for some
hours, if you have not connected any load to it than there
is no damage to your load.your transformer itself would not
have undergone any damage and safe to use. Please inform us
what actually happened.

In step down transformer (415/200V),mistakenly secondary side is connected to 415V for some hours,..

Answer / girish naik

The transformer secondary is designed for 220V..Its having
lesser turns than 415V side..so if we apply 415V it
experiences overfluxing and damages the insulation losses
and also the temparature..

In step down transformer (415/200V),mistakenly secondary side is connected to 415V for some hours,..

Answer / pillay

this is a case of a stepdown transformer being used as
step up transformer.
as mr milan has said 816.12 would be at the other side.
generally nothing would have happened to the transformer
other than being warm.the transformers insulation class
would be able to take care of the higher voltage.
If the other side the 816.12 volt have been connected to
the
load (suppose to be 200 volts)than damage would have
happened
to the load, the extent depending on what type of
load.

In step down transformer (415/200V),mistakenly secondary side is connected to 415V for some hours,..

Answer / sanket patil

First of all primary and secondary of a transformer are
decided after putting it in the service. Hence the windings
of transformer are referred as HV and Lv windings.
Now if the HV winding is connected as a secondary then
the xmer will work satisfactorily
In the another case if 220V wdg is connected to the 415V
supply the answer is same as explained by other friends.

In step down transformer (415/200V),mistakenly secondary side is connected to 415V for some hours,..

Answer / maan

Most of electrical equipment are rated at 220v,there
working seriously affected if they recive power at haigher
voltage(415v), also losses in primery side increases and
core loss in secondary side , that may damage winding and
insulation.

Answer / a

earth fault will be accrue becz secondary is 200 v means in
secondary side one cable is for phase & another for
neutral.if we connect 415 v in secondary then 2 phases are
connected with neutral.
