There are so many testing are available to test a power transformer.
1. Turns ration testing : to ensure the no.of turns on each winding.
2. Winding resistance testing: To measure the resistance of each winding.
3. Vector group testing : To identify transformer vector group, which is very important for parallel operation.
4. Insulation resistance testing : To ensure the healthiness of transformer insulation resistance.
5. Impedance voltage testing : Important for parallel operation and loading condition assessment.
6. No load/ Short circuit testing : For the measurement of losses.
7. Partial discharge testing : To monitor the insulation imperfection/aging effect
8. Switching impulse/ lightning impulse testing : To measure the impulse withstand strength of the transformers.
9. Acoustic level measurement: To track the level of magnetic hum of the transformer.
10. Dissolved gas analysis: To identify dissolved gaseous in the transformer gases.
11. Dielectric testing : To measure break down potential of transformer oil.
And the count goes on...!!!
The type of testings carried out will vary based on the application and criticality

HI,
Power transformer is used in Switchyards where it can
supply the voltage from grid to grid and the strutcure of
the transformer is Delta to Delta connection. there is no
stepup or step down in that.
