From stability point of view,What(higher/lower) should be
the value of inertia constant of rotating machines?
Answer / iamdon
Rotating machines having HIGHER INERTIA CONSTANT have
higher transient stability limit as explained below.
Higher inertia consant will produce greater rotational
kinetic energy. So machine have greater pool of stored
kinetic energy which will help in PREVENTING EXCESSIVE
SPEED CHANGE due to sudden load variation.Such machines can
withstand large change in load.
