The thump rule is voltage rating +1 example for a 11KV
motor it should be 11+1=12 Mega ohm.
In addition to that the PI is the ratio between 1Mnts and
10 mnts.It should be above 1.5
For examle IR at 1mnts= 10M.ohm,
IR at 10 Mnts= 20 M.Ohm
Then the Polarisation index is 2 which is consdierd
good.When it is below 1.5 you can heat the tranformer or
motor then the value will come up.

Meggering test is done for any electrical equipments to
find the insulation resistance value.
As per the standards for testing the machines 3 methods are
there
1)spot reading 2)time-resistance testing method 3)step
voltage test

How much allowable difference current between on three phases Dear sir, We have a 1870 KW HT motor, 11 Kv supply,FLA-120A,2870 rpm,2-pole squirrel cage induction Motor.And stator is connected in star connection with Liquid resistance stater to limit the starting current.It has coupled with Centrifugal air compressor.My question is it is loading 73% of FLA taking R-phase 86.7 A, Y-phase-85.4A,B-phase- 78.3A.why the B phase current is that much of difference.Is it allowable, or any one tell me how much allowable current.If any method to calculate.

If Voltage drops then its rated value what will be effect on a Residential load? similarly if voltage rises from its rated value then what will be effects on a load? i know if voltage drops the equipment or device draws more current then its rated what are other reasons ? thanks in advance for ur time.......
