Dear friends, i would like to know that what is the exact function of 'exciter winding' ..

Answer / Bhavna Tyagi

In an alternator, the exciter winding (also known as the field winding) provides the magnetic field required for generating electricity. The auxiliary winding (or aux winding) is an additional winding used to help the exciter winding achieve the desired magnetic field strength.
1. Exciter Winding: It generates a low-frequency current that creates a steady magnetic field in the rotor of the alternator.
2. Auxiliary Winding: It helps in starting the alternator by providing an additional current to the exciter winding during startup, and it may also be used for voltage regulation.
