Is it any dc fuses availbale in market? can we use one fuse for both AC & DC ?..

Answer / ramesh

Fuse are series path load for protecting device from short
circuit. or overload protection from high value current also
voltage drop Resistance may change when a fuse becomes hot
due to energy dissipation while conducting higher currents.
The speed at which a fuse blows depends on how much current
flows through it and the material of which the fuse is made.

The speed at which a fuse blows depends on how much current
flows through it and the material of which the fuse is made.
The operating time is not a fixed interval, but decreases as
the current increases. Fuses have different characteristics
of operating time compared to current, characterized as
fast-blow, slow-blow, or time-delay, according to time
required to respond to an over current condition. A standard
fuse may require twice its rated current to open in one
second, a fast-blow fuse may require twice its rated current
to blow in 0.1 seconds, and a slow-blow fuse may require
twice its rated current for tens of seconds to blow.

Is it any dc fuses availbale in market? can we use one fuse for both AC & DC ?..

Answer / avd

As far as current rating is concernrd both AC/DC are same.
But DC current arc is difficult to quench compared to AC.
Hence DC fuse construction is more robust.

Is it any dc fuses availbale in market? can we use one fuse for both AC & DC ?..

Answer / pete poitra

Fuses are circuit protective devices. As they might be
designed for AC or DC, the purpose is to "open" upon an
overload of current as would be designed sustainable in the
circuit. It protects the components that follow in series
that current path.

Answer / simon

Yes but make sure about the current rating bcs it is responsible for a fuse to blow .
