transformer is static device which works on mutual induction
principle and the transformer transfers the power from one
ckt to another ckt and one voltage level to another voltage
level through the magnetic coupling (without any electrical
contact) keeping the frequency constant.

A t/f is static device which consists of two or more
stationay electrick ckt interlinked by a common magnetic
ckt for the perpose of transferring electrical energy b/w
them. The transfer of energy from one ckt to another
without change in frequency.

trasnformer is on inducton principle. when we supply input
to the primary winding the flux will produce in primary
wining and that flux cuts the secondary winding. due to
this emf the voltage will produce in the secondary
windings. the out put of the secondary will depends on the
secondary winding.when the primary winding is higher then
secondary that is step down trasformer.then the primary
winding is lower then secondary is called as step up
transformers.mostly step up trasformers are only used in
substations for transmitting power.

A transformer is a device that transfers electrical energy
from one circuit to another through inductively coupled
conductors—the transformer's coils. A varying current in
the first or primary winding creates a varying magnetic
flux in the transformer's core, and thus a varying magnetic
field through the secondary winding. This varying magnetic
field induces a varying electromotive force (EMF)
or "voltage" in the secondary winding. This effect is
called mutual induction.
