sorry shailesh,but wat u said was unclear to me.Do you want
to say that the NIC posts are for data center now? and the
market value for data center techie after 5 yrs is 15-20
lakhs? If that is the situation then i think its very good
to work in NIC for 5 yrs and then use the skills u learnt
for earning the amount u said above in pvt industry.Please
currect me if i took it in other way.

I had also checked after reading ur post and found that NIC
is really doing very good in terms of data center
facilities and services.

Regarding the firing i suggest u to google once for firing
in NIC.I checked all other companies and got results
matching but for NIC I was not able to find any info so if
u are able to please post it here so that we can take the
rite decision.

Now coming to the decision of joining or not joining NIC, I
agree that its ones own decision.One can decide based upon
his current position and oppurtunities.I am looking forward
to join NIC but at the same time i am a bit cautious abt
it, thats why i want to w8 till the end and then decide
what to do. And the fact is until we see the offer we cant
decide.so better to w8 and see.

Recently there was a recruitment for the post of Project
Scientist in ARCI. They are giving in pay-scale of PB3 with
all other perks as regulars and it is a purely temporary
contractual job of 5 yrs(mentioned clearly). So, contract
govt. jobs with pay-scales do exist.
Anyway, I don't think this is a contract as it was not
mentioned clearly.

There is a recruitment advt which is still open
now "Sashastra Seema Bal". Go to recruitments section of
its website. Its for Inspector(Technical), etc. It is
mentioned "Initially temporary" and likely to be permanent.
Take a look to have an idea.

There is another advt of NIOT which is now open
giving "LUMP" sum as some one said of upto 83,500 depending
on exp. It is a contract for 5 years.

My friend told me that they are making everything temporary
initially now because people don't work otherwise. Probably
our previous gen. has set an example.

If anyone receives appointment order please inform here.

and yes the posts are for data center. It was mentioned in
the advt. and interview questions were also asked about
that to me.

That's correct vijay ....you took it in a good way.... i m
also going to w8 till end .....i believe if u open your
eyes till end you can not be fall.

One more thing ....Government service is important with
respect to your social life ...though you will get less
money ...but you will live a life which is important from
family point of view .....

i emailed the NIC team twice regarding the offer of
appointment...but i didnt get a single reply...atleast an
expected date for it....

the post above by someone Anonymous was having some good
information...i have checked some openings which hired
people on contract basis and found the below points :

1) These offer are made with lumpsum package.
2) The number of posts are very low ( 5 to 10 and
sometimes only 1 )
3) It is clearly mentioned in the advertisement that the
posts are on contract basis.

I again reviewed the NIC advertisement and found that none
of the above is true....there was no clear indication that
the posts are on contract ( i agree that it is mentioned
the posts are for 5 years and likely to continue...this
happens in all government recruitment and after completion
of the intial term u r given a chance to continue or
quit)....the number of posts are 260 here and the third
point that the pay is not given in lumpsum......

my dear all Frds,
may be ur views over govt job can be correct but govt jobs
provides u only securty and not a very good lum sum pf
package or money. one thing more also important here, after
worked in any Govt org. u can not work in Private sector
because we all ade habitual us as working of Govt sector.so
all my frds who are dreaming ki after 05 years exp they can
switch in private sector over a very good package ...pls
forget this dream.
2. all these posts are not for data centre, offcourse they
are looking some guys for data centre but not all, i
enquired with a NIC person working there.
3. in present sceneiro u can say to join NIC is safe but if
u want really progress in life, u can not do it in NIC.
4. lets wait for the letter and then decide.

Hi prajal,

I just wanted u to c the difference between other
government jobs and NIC.NIC is the IT arm of the government
and it works entirely differnt...u cannot find any
difference in the work in any pvt organisation and NIC.the
only difference is the pay package...but i can say that its
better in NIC because the joining package is 26000 whereas
in pvt firms u will get 20k to 25k and then u will get a
sure promotion in 3 years whereas in pvt firms u may get
annual appraisal but they completely depend on the market
position and when market is at its best companies like
IBM,INFY give a salary hike of 30000 per annum which will
add a max of 2 or 3 thousand in salary per
month....companies like SATYAM were giving a good hike of
80k to 1 lakh but it is now no longer in such
position.....i agree that the market will grow again and
the IT industry will develop again...but then also at the
peak position u will get 30000 hike ( MAX)....so take
picture after 3 years....u will get a promotion in NIC or u
will stay in the same designation in other firms and get
26000 sal after 2 hikes which is also not guranteed......

Coming to work environment dont under estimate NIC...it is
the oldest IT industry in INDIA which started 4 decades
back....it only hires the best techies and gives them wide
oppurtunities from research and analysis to support and
development.So no doubt u will never become like
the "BABUS" working in other govt organisation....u have
lots of work and if u r energetic then u can reach the apex
of IT industry.....remember APJ abdul kalam, Kiran karnik
and many others had worked in various government institutes
and now they are helping pvt firms to reorganise
themselves.......

Hi friends,

Whatever Shakshi told is really right from my point of
view. Govt not only provides security, it also provides
other facilities like free children education at central
level, medical expenses and so on. But think if u r working
in pvt firm offcourse u might b earning 1 lac or more per
month, there will be no gurantee that u will stay there for
the next day. Think of what would be your health if u r
facing lots of pressure may be from management or from
client. According to the medical survey most of diseases are
found in Software Enggs b'coz they wont have peace, high
mental pressure, working for late nights in pressure, even
they cant spend most of the happy moments with their family.
Today u have energy, spirit to work with these pvt firms
means u r working for their dream not for urs. Ultimately
what happens as u become aged u go on for curing ur disease
then again spending the same money whatever u earned in ur
energetic/adult age.
Indian people are very talented but utilizing it for
other countries. Today India is in need of talented people
for developing advanced technologies especially in defence
side, in easing the work of our citizen n so on. Dear
friends i want to tell u that utilize ur talents for
advancing our technologies of our nation so that no other
nation can dare to compete with us. One more thing is that u
will lead a happy life and earn a respect from people if u
r working in govt organization. Finally I conclude my

oh great ....Some patriotic slogans are going on .... :)
Sakshi you are correct....and i am sure you will do
something good for NIC.....present apprisal system in Pvt
firms is completly based on one's individual
performance ...if you are very good and feel always
confident then only option to stay in Pvt
firms /...otherwise my advice is to join NIC ....many of my
friends worked for NIC 2-3 years and joined Private sector
after that ...they are getting good salary and also getting
recoginistation in company.....so it's upto one how he is
looking the way and interpreting all the
things.................One more thing to add ..Govt.
oppurtunity does not come on frequent basis as it come in
pvt. sectors....So i am sure a govt. employee can join
pvt. sector at any point of time but vice versa can't be
true at any point of time.
