The Datasource for Xcelsius is not limited to excel, it can
fetch data through some data connectivity components like
Web service, Live Office connection, SAP connection, many
more......

The main difference between teh Webi, CR and Xcelsius is
Webi and CR are reporting tools and Xcelsius is a Dynamic
Dashboard tool where we can provide a What-If scenario to
the end-user.

The output of the reports in Webi and CR are limited to
pdf, word etc.. but Xcelsius gives output as all the above
mentioned formats and a unique format .swf (a flash file).

In Webi and CR we can find the page refresh rate where as
in Xcelsius we have buffered data. The advantage with this
is unecessary hits to the server may be reduced.

Both Webi and CR cant competate Xcelsius in Look and Feel.
Xcelsius has some rich features and some color blends.

Webi and CR can hold huge data, but Xcelsius cannot hold
bulk data. At runtime it shows the performance degrade and
sometimes throws action script errors.

There will be no ground work in Webi and CR in making data
for charts but where as in Xcelsius we have to do lots and
lots of ground work in the Excel sheet.


The main point:
Through Xcelsius we can import data fro0m Webi and CR
through Live Office connector.

Till SAP BO R3, Web Intelligence would have only source as
Universe but from SAP BOBI 4.0 Web I can able to connect to
many other sources... Eg: Bex analyzer.

Crystal Reports Is any how ultimate, It can connect to
plenty of data bases Including crystalreports.com,
salesforce.com...

And when coming to Xcelsius Dashboards, It Is not end with
Microsoft Spread sheet. It Is also one of the source where
we can import a spread sheet and model the data and then
make Visuals.

But when coming to external sources like Live Office, QWAAS,
Web Services, XML, Live Data Sources and all, the Inbuilt
spread sheet In the Xcelsius dashboard tools just acts as a
data modeling tool but It Is not a source.

EG:

We have a Web-I report where we would like to use that
report In dashboard using live office then we may bind the
data to the spread sheet to connect the components. But the
actual source Is the Universe only. That's why we may face
plenty of performance Issues when the number of Live Office
connections are more In a single dashboard.

tool....
Generally WebI reports used for historical data and CR for
live data...WebI is end user tool.. CR is completly
Developer tool....Dashboard is Developer Tool

What is Custom Sorting? In development environment we had applied custom Order on Month which is having the following list of values September,October,March,August and December only.But in Production environment Month is having all LiSt of Values like 12 MOnths(Jan to Dec).So ,How it will effect the Sorting in production environmentof universe and as well as in reporting?????
