What is DTX? Why is it used?..

DTX is a Discontinuous Transmission.
Generally used in mobile network.
There is a speech time or silent time while conversation on
mobile phone.This can be recongnised by using Voice
Activity Detector(VAD).If there s a silent period during
conversation DTX will off the transmitter and hence a
mobile which has limited power supply capacity can be
saved.And also Interference can also be minimised by DTX.

dtx means discontineous transmission........ it is used
inside the mobile ..... IT WORKS(ON) WHEN THE VOICE IS
PRESENT AT TRANSMITTERSIDE. IF NO VIOCE IS PRESENT THEN IT
TURNS OFF. BY USING DTX WE CAN SAVE OUR BATTERY LIFE.... B
COZ WEN WE SPEEK THE ANTENNA WIL TRANSMITT THE SIGNALS.SO
IT TAKES A POWER FROM THE BATERY.....
