how to calculate capacitor bank value to maintain unity power factor plz xplain with some suitable..

Answer / shalini.b

capacitor bank value is calculated in KVAR
From Power Triangle,
KVAR = Sin(phi) * KVA

Desired Power factor = 0.96 (say)
cos(phi)=0.96
phi = cos(inv)0.96
phi= 36.86
Sin(phi)= 0.28

If the transformer rating is 1250 KVA (say)
KVAR = 0.28*1250
= 350
