In the -ph systems the pf decreases as load Increases.
But In the induction motor it quite different.
At no load or light load the current drawn by induction
motor is is comparable with the magnitude of the magnetizing
current which lags much behind the applied voltage and hence
low pf @ low or no-loads.
While the load increases the current drawn by the induction
motor increases. As the secondary of i.m. is short
circuited. The current operates at a higher power factor.

Hello everyone, somebody knows what is a "surplice power" ? The hole phrase is: "This rating is appropriate for a generator set paralleled with an infinite bus e.g. a national electrical supply network or grid where the generator set is run at 100% load, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and any surplice power is exported into the grid" Thanks in advance.
