Power cabble is the one to which loac is connected.Whereas
control cable is used to pass the command.
EX: To switch on the heavy motor we need to press the push
button.i.e.,the command passes through the control cable to
the contactor where power cables are connected. As soon as
the command reaches the contactor it gets switched on
allowing the motor to run.

1)power cable is designed to carry high current up to load
such as motor or any machine also has insulation and
sometimes armouring for electrical and mechanical
protection.
2)control cable can be used in two types
1. which carry small current to load such as contactor to
trip
2. which carry control signal such as data cable and it is
sheathed one.

Power cable are used or designed for power transmission
while control cable are used or designed for signal or data
transmission. The rate of heat loss in control cable is very
low to that of power cable.

power cable be uses for main infeed ckt. of the equipment,
flow more power and having higher sizes up to 600sqmm.
whereas control cable uses for control ckt. of the
equipment, flow less power and having smaller sizes up to
4sqmm.
both cable are used for ac or dc

Answer / minal
power cable carries high current. They provide power. They
are ac operated only.
whereas control cables are used to carry control signals of
low power strength.they are ac as well as dc operated.

Answer / minal
power cable is used to carry high voltage ac currents
whereascontrol cables are used to carry small dc voltages.
Power cables can carry noise also but control cables are
twisted and doesnot carry noise.

Differecen between Power & Control Cables are:
1. Power Cables have Odd Nos. of Cores where as Control
cables has even no. of cores.
2. Power Cable can vary from 1.5mmSq to 250mmSq. but most
of the Control cable can vary from 1mmSq to 4mmSq.
4. Power Cable can carry more current where as Control
cables can carry AC DC current upto 4Amp.
