distance?

For bulk power transmission over a long distance , it is
established practice to go for EHV or UHV transmission. for
long distances, AC transmission poses a problem of reactive
management. Therefore we have to provide intermediate
switching substation with capacitors and reactors.
Alternately, we may go for HVDC transmission.Economics have
to be worked our for a cost effective solution.

one thing i want tell to guys,if we reduce the conductor
size how u will transmit the high voltage, but the loss
will be low but we cant trans high voltage.....tell some
other points....one thing that by using step up transformer
for some certain distance, we can reduce some loss & by
chosing material of the conductor like copper also reduce
the loss but the cost will increase....

By using conductor of small size at long distances, we can
reduce the power losses.
we know that Resistance=resistivity x length/area.
If the area is less, resistance will be more thereby, the
current flow will be small. Thus the power loss is reduced.
