Ideally both Goals and Milestones(completion/sign-off of a
major activity or deliverable) are fixed at the beginning
of the Project Planning Phase based on the Project Charter.
However, during certain cases, during the course of the
project, the goals and/or milestones becomes irrelevant to
the changed business context. Hence, instead of pursuing
the earlier establised goal, with the apporval of the
Project Sponsor (who had approved the Project charter), the
goals and subsequently the milestones to achieve the
revised goals can be planned and changed to reflect the
revised business requirement.

It is a process which must be carried out during the
project Management or to be planned during the project
planning stage to list the actions to be taken in case of
any requirement changes arises. This term is used while
communicating with the stakeholders. For example, “If there
are any changes in the system requirements we need to
Readjust the goal and milestones” and if the stakeholders
ask, we should be able to list the planed steps for the
process, which depends on the project in hand.
