Answer / risha ramanathan
Let x ne the total no. of bread
1st thief loots : x/2+1/2 = (x+1)/2
2nd thief loots : 1/2((x+1)/2) = (x+3)/4
3rd thief loots : 1/2((x+3)/4) = (x+7)/8
4th thief loots : 1/2((x+7)/8) = (x+15)/16
5th thief loots : 1/2((x+15)/16) = (x+31)/32
now the no. of bread left is (x+31)/32
since (x+31)/32 = 3
therefore x = 65.
