Explain how is martensite structure formed in steel?
Answer / Nishtha Pant
Martensite is a hard crystalline form of carbon steel that forms when austenitic steel (a high-temperature form of steel) undergoes a rapid cooling process called quenching. During quenching, the austenite structure transforms into martensite without having time to reorganize its atomic structure, resulting in a highly strained structure with high strength and hardness.
