High Antenna gives better coverage because radiation
pattern is larger than Low Ant Gain.

The main difference is in applications, i.e. if the application is Target tracking then high gain antennas are used because the beam width is less and the spectral clarity is high.
If the application is for ECM or ECCM applications then low gain antennas are employed, because they have more beam width
and can cover large area. But with a less spectral clarity.
