Answer / raghu
IGBT is the Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor. It is cross
of BJT and MOSFET. It is used as swith in power electronics
applications. It is having higher swithing speed as MOSFET
and lower power dessipation as the BJT.It is used in SMPS
etc.

The insulated gate bipolar transistor or IGBT is a three
terminal power semiconductor device used for high
efficiency and fast switching
The IGBT combines the simple gate-drive characteristics of
the MOSFETs with the high-current and low–saturation-
voltage capability of bipolar transistors by combining an
isolated-gate FET for the control input, and a bipolar
power transistor as a switch, in a single device. The IGBT
is used in medium- to high-power applications such as
switched-mode power supply, traction motor control and
induction heating. Large IGBT modules typically consist of
many devices in parallel and can have very high current
handling capabilities in the order of hundreds of amps with
blocking voltages of 6,000 V.

Normally to achieve high load curent, the driver stage
should be high efficiency which is very complicated to
maintain the accuracy. In a simpleway to say "The principle
of IGBT case, a small change in input, a large change at
output" and easy to maintain with more
accuracy.

IGBT is a switching device, has the advantage of both MOSFET & BJT. It has higher switching capacity with higher voltage, current rating. Its gate is insulated. When triggering signal sent to gate, it causes a flow of electron which magnetude depend upon the duration of triggerig.

insulated gate bipolar transistor is a combination of BJT and MOSFET . it is a three terminal power semiconductor device primarily used as a electronic switch witch as it was developed come to combine high efficiency and fast switching its used VFD ,Electrical circuit . air conditioner etc
the IGBT is a semiconductor with four alternating layers (P-N-P-N) that are control by metal _oxide -semiconductor (MOS) gate structure without regenerative action
Since its design to turn ON and OFF rapidly amplifier that use it often synthesize complex wave forms with pules width modulation and low pass filters

Susan made a block with small cubes of 8 cubic cm volume to make a block ,3 small cubes long, 9 small cubes wide and 5 small cubes deep. She realizes that she has used more small cubes than she really needed. She realized that she could have glued a fewer number of cubes together to lock like a block with same dimensions, if it were made hollow. What is the minimum number of cubes that she needs to make the block? a) 114 b) 135 c) 21 d) 71
