What is the angle of repose and what are its applications in the chemical industry?..

Answer / Swati Kukreti

The angle of repose is the maximum angle at which a loose granular material (such as sand or powder) can be piled without sliding. It depends on factors such as particle size, shape, density, and surface properties. In the chemical industry, the angle of repose has several applications:
1. Designing storage bins and silos to prevent collapse due to poor material compaction.
2. Calculating the volume occupied by bulk materials for inventory management purposes.
3. Evaluating the flowability of powders during transportation and processing operations.
