Answer / Ranjana Kutiyal
Allotrope refers to different forms of an element having the same chemical composition but a different crystal structure. For iron, it exists in three main allotropes: Ferrite (alpha-iron) with a body-centered cubic structure at room temperature, Austrite (gamma-iron) with a face-centered cubic structure above 912°C, and Martensite which can form during transformation from austenite.
