The Demonetization Bill, also known as the Specified Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Bill, was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 19th November 2016. The bill aimed to declare the old 500 and 1000 rupee notes invalid from midnight of 8th November 2016, as part of a move to curb black money, corruption, and terrorism financing.
