Why potassium dichromate is used in calibration of uv?

Why potassium dichromate is used in calibration of uv?..

Answer / Sonu Gautam

Potassium dichromate is a strong oxidizing agent and absorbs ultraviolet light strongly at a wavelength of 365 nm. This property makes it suitable for calibrating UV-Visible spectrophotometers by providing a standard absorbance value. The absorbance of potassium dichromate can be measured precisely, allowing for the accurate determination of unknown sample absorbances.
