The Rr stands for Register Ratio.

The disc is connected to a shaft that has a worm gear on it. This worm gear meshes with a wheel-type gear. The Rr number is the number of turns this wheel gear makes in order to turn the first dial one revolution.

The Rr number seems to vary with different manufacturers as well as different styles. It's usually some dumb number too; like 13 8/9 or 11 5/7. Wouldn't something like 8 or 12 or even better 10 make more sense?!??

Is it possible to use AC supply insted of DC supply in trip coil operation? if not, why?
