Question { Sarhad University, 25033 }

why we step up voltage for reducing the loss, even if
voltage and current are proportional anr resistance remains
same

Answer

Abdurrahim answer i can understand

in my point view
for high current and low voltage transmission
1.AC current flow outermost conducter in grid bus,so
loss of skin effect more is one the factor
2.Current carring capacity is high,so it is need spical
type bushing and transmission tower,in bteween lines need
more support.it is diffecult maintance

Is This Answer Correct ?    4 Yes 5 No

Question { 7372 }

why we used to transmitt the power at higher voltage why
not at lower voltage

Answer

For transmitt the power at higher voltage are
1.Reducing line loss(I^2 R)
2.Improve efficiency
3.Save Material Cost

Question { ABB, 65724 }

what is the difference between the 94 lockout relay and 86
lock out relay. I have noticed that the 94 lockout relay is
activated when the distance realy is activated and 86 is
activated when the 87T differential is activated. but why
can't the same lockouts be used for both the protection
schemes

Answer

86 lock out relay is hand reset used for mechanical
protection (permanent fault) & 94 lockout relay is self
reset used for tranisent fault (temprovery fault condition)
this is major different between 86 and 96 lockout relay

Question { JLL, 8585 }

What is difference between MCB,MCCB,ELCB and RCCB?
Brief description and why RCCB is costly?

Answer

MCB is miniature circuit breaker which is thermal operated and use for short circuit protection in small current rating circuit,Normally it is used where normal current is less than 100A,
MCCB moulded case circuit breaker and is thermal operated for over load current and magnetic operation for instant trip in short circuit condition,Normally it is used where normal current is more than 100A.
RCCB is used to detect earth leakage fault.once there is a ground fault in the load side,current from phase will directly pass through earth and it will not return through netural through RCCB,that means one side current is going and not returning and hence beacuse of this difference in current RCCB will trip and it will safe guard the other circuits for fault loads,that why cost of RCCB also costly

Is This Answer Correct ?    3 Yes 0 No

Question { ABB, 13376 }
