Good example is the switch over from imperial to metric units here a few years back..
A paper towel dispenser sign said " Pull out about a foot of paper" in order to dry your hands.. simple enough... but... some 'not so sane' person, who failed the sanity test, re-printed to sign to say " Pull out 304.82 millimeters of paper" instead.
The sanity test failed here, as that is just a silly level of accuracy, and all we are doing is drying our hands.. If the answer is insane, then it fails the sanity test.
