We can say some proportions up to M20 which is called nominal mix..beyond this like M30,M40 we can't define this proportions of cement and aggregates roughly without designing ..it should be designed on the basis of properties of material in such cases..it's called design mix

M20 is the Nominal mix.It is used in the common slab which have design for the Low Load.
M25 is the Design mix.It is used for the Design slab for the required compressive strength for the Design load Obtain.
