Electrical machines can be rotating or static.
Rotating machines such as motors or generators and they have a stationary part called stator and a rotating part called rotor which has shaft and bearings helping to rotate inside the stator keeping an air gap in between.
Stationary machines; yes machines constructed mainly from Laminated iron core and windings which are all stationary; not designed to move or rotate.

Why in power plant projects we see DOL starting method used for motors upto 160 kW instead of star delta method
