A mosfet is used in switching and amplifying
electronics signals.It can used as a static relay that can work on high current as its i/p impedance is very high.

there are two main reason..........
1)scaling property -due to scaling property size reduce
2)static power consumtion is zero
other factor is its property match with ideal invertor
so we use as a digital ckt
