CDMA has better security, soft hand off,hence better call completion rate..but its no way directly communicating to satelite....

i think gsm is better better because it spread almost all
ovet the world except us, hence we can use gsm in another
country. gsm transfer no doubt trafer data in slower rate
but if transfer data in packets and work with lower network
but for cdma good network is needed for data transfer.
calling is not possible during data transfer (internet
accessing) in cdma.we can use gsm in any handset more
easily.You can swap GSM SIM cards between handsets when a
new one is needed.

CDMA is coded division multiple access due to which each user is individually given a coded path which is not in gsm. CDMA is secure and fast as each user gets a designated frequency band.
