a)generating station
b)substation
c)voltage regulating area

Answer / sanjay
transformer is used in
1-genrating station(step up)
2-substation(step down)
3-transmission line(booster)
thus transformer is used where voltage is required at
desired level.
for above one answer (c) seems to be d right one.

Power Transformers are installed at
1. Power stations to step up from the generation voltage to
transmission voltage.
2. At Sub Stations for either step down to transmission
distribution voltage or as interconnector link for
transmission lines

Just remember Transformers are required where voltage step up or step down is there.
In generating stations we step up generating voltage of 12 Kv to 132 Kv for transmission purposes so we need transformers.
In substaion step down of voltages takes place so we need transformers.so do for voltage regulating areas too.
