it is the ratio of water to cement . Since the quantity of cement is fixed in a particular batch of mix, an increase in quantity of water althouth increases workability but it reduces the strength of concrete & vice-versa.However a lower W/C ratio is recommonded in construction.

In case of a beam ,main steel is provided along the longer span because, bending moment is directly proportional to length but why in case of one way slab main steel is provided along shorter span while as bending takes place along longer span?comment
