Battery banks are in connected in series or parallel and
why?

Answer / vineet kumar
Battery banks are always connected in series in order to get
a multiplied voltage where the AH or current capacity
remaining same. Ex : 24 nos. 2V,200Ah battries connected in
series will give 48V,200Ah ouput (AH = Ampere hours)

Answer / anthony p.
When connected in series it will increase the voltage
output, and keep amperage the same, as stated above.
If you have 12v 100Ah batteries, and require 24v 600 Ah for
a back-up system to last 5-6 hours, you would need 12
batteries total:
6 sets of 2 batteries in series to get the required 24v,
then parallel those 6 sets for a total of 600 Ah.
This is a standard system for back-up battery systems in
remote sites with intermittent commercial power.
