In electrical what is earth(ground)connection, wht is the
importance of it, why it is recomended to maitain below
3VAC between Neutral and earthspecially in PLC used
machines?
Answer / Neeraj Kashyap
The Earth (or Ground) connection provides a path for unwanted electrical current to flow safely to the ground during fault conditions. In an electrical system, the Earth connection serves as the common reference point for all voltages and is used to protect people and equipment from electric shock.nnThe importance of maintaining a low voltage between Neutral (N) and Earth (E) connections lies in the safety of the system. In many electrical systems, the Neutral conductor is connected to Earth at various points for safety reasons. If the voltage between N and E rises above 3VAC, it may pose a risk of electric shock to personnel operating near or handling equipment.nnIn PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) used machines, maintaining a low voltage between Neutral and Earth is particularly important due to the close proximity of operators to the control panels. This helps ensure the safety of both the machine and its operators.
