the single phase voltage is 230 volts and threee phase is 430 v.why three phase is not 660 v?..

Answer / kavi

To better understand, you must do the mathematical analysis
of three sinusoidal single phase voltage/current waveform.
They should be displaced by 120 degree from each other. you
will see how the 1.732 or 'root 3' factor comes into play.
three phase supply does not mean three single phase supply
superposed. they oscillate at the same frequency but with a
phase difference. try it out.
