flywheel is generally a heavy part in the machines . the extra energy produced by the motor or moving part is utilized to rotate the the heavy flywheel,which can be reused as per demand.hence flywheel stores energy as a rotating mass.

Energy will be stored on the edge or the outer diameter of the circular flywheel... when the engine in non-functioning stage it will produce inertia and make the proppeller shaft to rotate....

shaft.the energy is stored in that ring which is flexible
and compact and expands as per the load......
