how the priming is done in a centrifugal pumps?..

Answer / suchetan dev

As centrifugal pump is not a self priming pump, separate
priming arrangement is required...
generally,a separate axial pump is provided for this
purpose. The discharge v/v of the centrifugal pump is
closed,and the inlet v/v is opened.The discharge v/v is
opened only after the pump is primed, that is filled with the
liquid to be pumped.

how the priming is done in a centrifugal pumps?..

Answer / muhammad bilal

Basically before startup of pump priming is done to remove the traped vapor inside the pump because they cause difficulty in suction of water. So by application of water or some other fluid we do prime our pump before start up.Usually priming is needed in positive displacement pump and centrifugal pumps are regarded as self primed pumps.

star connection for a 3 phase induction motor gives reduced starting current.but 1.732 times the rated current during run up period if the motor was designed to run on delta. Why can't we design the motors to run on star connection instead. It will remove the starting arrangement required making the construction an operation much simpler.
